Job Responsibilities
As an Application Support Analyst, you’ll be the backbone of our software systems, ensuring they run like a well-oiled machine. Your role blends technical expertise with problem-solving and collaboration, working closely with stakeholders to maintain and optimize our applications. Here’s what you’ll do:
- Provide top-tier technical and application support to ensure smooth operation of our production environment, meeting high service delivery standards.
- Deliver 2nd- and 3rd-line support for middleware and integration systems, performing root cause analysis and fulfilling requests with precision.
- Enhance application monitoring, log mining, and performance tuning to keep systems running at their best.
- Identify opportunities to optimize resources across operations, 2nd-line, and 3rd-line support teams through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Create high-quality support documentation and diagrams on platforms like Wiki to empower the team.
- Investigate and prioritize support requests from business users, escalating to 3rd-line support or management when needed.
- Log all investigations and tasks comprehensively, keeping stakeholders informed on progress.
- Document and implement workarounds and revised procedures for Application Support and Operations teams.
- Ensure system availability through regular tasks, following up on exceptions promptly.
- Adhere to company policies on change control, security, auditing, release promotion, configuration, and incident management.
- Support software and configuration changes in the live environment, collaborating with project teams during releases.
- Work with operations to ensure smooth change implementation and update operational procedures.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an Application or Production Support Analyst (or similar role).
- Hands-on experience in a Windows-based environment, including 1st/2nd-line support.
- Proficiency in writing and using Transact-SQL queries for database management.
- Experience supporting low-latency, high-volume applications, administering tools like OpsView (Nagios), MS SQL/Windows, XML, Splunk, or similar.
- Scripting/coding skills in Python or PowerShell.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Logical problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and a knack for clear, effective communication.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle, .NET, firewalls, internet security, SOAP, HTML, Java Frameworks, or IIS Server.
- Background in the financial sector, especially payment processing or electronic point-of-sale/ATM systems.
- Familiarity with ITIL for service management.
- Experience in high-pressure environments where system performance directly impacts business outcomes.
