Roles and Responsibilities

As a Performance Test Engineer at Frugal Testing, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our clients’ applications can handle real-world demands. Your day-to-day will involve:

Developing and executing performance test scripts using tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or Blazemeter.
Designing and setting up load scenarios for load, endurance, and stress tests to simulate real-world usage.
Monitoring test execution, analyzing results, and identifying performance bottlenecks.
Collaborating with development teams to propose solutions for performance issues.
Creating technical testing strategies and defining the scope for performance testing projects.
Preparing, executing, and monitoring all testing activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Developing tools to parse logs generated by the Application Under Test (AUT).
Maintaining the performance test lab, including tools and environments.
Analyzing root causes of performance issues and recommending corrective actions.
Suggesting new tools and techniques to enhance testing efficiency.
Assisting in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and tracking activities.
Supporting project design, development, and deployment phases.
Reviewing and improving existing test procedures for better outcomes.
Identifying non-functional requirements (NFRs) for performance testing through product specification analysis.
Ensuring the testing environment is ready and optimized for performance testing.

Qualifications

We’re looking for candidates who bring both technical expertise and a collaborative spirit. You’ll need:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
2–4 years of relevant experience in performance testing.
Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Performance Center, Blazemeter, or equivalent.
Familiarity with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools like Dynatrace, New Relic, or AppDynamics.
Strong understanding of 3-tier architecture (Application, Database, and Presentation layers).
Ability to comprehend complex product architectures built with technologies like .NET and Java.

Required Skills

To succeed in this role, you should have:

Expert-level proficiency in Java and JavaScript for scripting and automation.
Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on performance testing projects.
Experience in setting up and designing load scenarios for various performance tests.
Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Desirable Skills

Experience with cloud-based testing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
