About the Role

As a Software Test Engineer at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, you’ll be an integral part of our Agile Program team, working collaboratively to design, develop, and execute tests that ensure the highest quality of our software solutions. You’ll be immersed in a fast-paced environment, contributing to incremental sprints, integration tests, and final regression testing. Your role will involve creating functional and non-functional test cases, analyzing defects, and optimizing testing processes to meet customer expectations and on-time delivery goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain tests at various levels (unit, integration, regression) based on user stories, use cases, technical specifications, and non-functional requirements.
  • Execute testing on new features, regression testing, and confirmation testing to ensure software reliability.
  • Track, report, and analyze software defects using tools like Jira and Zephyr, collaborating with developers to resolve issues.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, and other testers to define testing requirements and write user story acceptance criteria.
  • Create and maintain test plans to meet on-time delivery and customer expectations.
  • Analyze logs, databases, and system performance to identify issues and verify functionality.
  • Build generic and customized test setups, including hardware and software configurations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in testing methodologies within an Agile and Scrum framework.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of technical software QA experience, with expertise in automation testing.
  • Strong understanding of software module architecture and overall solution architecture.
  • Experience reviewing requirements and design artifacts for ambiguity and creating medium to complex test cases.
  • Proficiency in classifying software defects and reporting test session progress.
  • Exposure to Agile and Scaled methodologies, particularly Scrum, and experience with tools like Jira and Zephyr.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in designing functional and non-functional test cases from product requirements.
  • Proficiency in Java, Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, or JUnit for automation testing.
  • Ability to analyze logs and databases to troubleshoot issues.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Familiarity with bash command line creation/execution for operating system interactions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with internal customers and provide training.
  • Problem-solving skills in straightforward situations, leveraging technical experience and judgment.
  • Self-organization and collaboration capabilities in a team-oriented environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with payment systems or fueling industry software solutions.
  • Knowledge of additional test management tools beyond Zephyr.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments or containerized setups (e.g., Docker).
  • Exposure to performance and load testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
  • Certifications in Agile, Scrum, or ISTQB testing methodologies.
